How Does DCC Work?

Here’s the lowdown:

1. Start the Transaction: A customer pays with a foreign card via Smart Checkout on your eCommerce payment page or at your terminal.
2. Offer a Choice: The system spots the foreign card and prompts the customer to choose between paying in the local currency or their home currency, displaying both prices.
   
3. Complete the Purchase: Once finalised, the transaction is processed in the home currency, and both the local and converted amounts show up on the receipt.

Refund flow from Viva.com dashboard

1-Locate the transaction and click the info icon to view DCC details.	2-Notice the Amount and Original Amount charged from the card.	3-Enter the refund amount in the customer's local currency and proceed.

Supported Merchant Currencies

These are the currencies your Viva account and POS transaction amount may originate in, the base transaction currency before conversion.

Supported Cardholder Currencies (DCC / eDCC)

These are the currencies Viva can present to the customer’s card after BIN detection and FX conversion.

* Legacy ISO code still supported in card networks.

** Legacy currency retained for scheme chargeback compatibility.
